The Groom's Story

Hi,

My name is Gareth Kendell, I was born on the 1st June 1979 in Ilford, Essex to my my VERY, VERY, VERY proud parents Jackie (55) and Philip (56), who live in Hornchurch, Essex.

I have an older sister who his called Joanna, she has her own family now, so Hello to Jo, Craig, Tommy and Daniel (Bigsy). They live i n Gidea Park, Essex.

We lived in Newbury park when I was born but then moved to Hornchurch where me and my sister grew up.

I went to Squirrels Heath Infant and Junior school and then to the Royal Liberty School for Boys (sound posh, trust me it wasn't).

I enjoyed school and found some great mates who i am still in contact with, you know who you are (Jamie, Paul, Jason and Peter).

I always like sport especially football and finally made it into the school squad along with my good mate Jason, that very same year we made it to several finals and played at Southend Football Club (my claim to fame). Where we lost, booo!!!! So you could say that me and Jase made all the difference.

When I left school I went to college for about a couple of months but after my manager at JJB Sports had corrupted me and turned me to the dark side of pubs and clubs I soon found out that a part time job would not feed my habit so I decided to leave and join JJB Sports as a full time sales assistant where I eventuall made it to Store Manager. That was the best desicion of my life as that is where I met my future wife (please read "Our Story" to find out more).

Before making it to store manager I did have a year out as a money broker before going back.

Now I hear you all shout, WHY oh WHY did I leave??

Well I was quite young at the time and had to get up at 04:30 to start work at 05:30 and didn't get much time with my lovely Nikki and my mates. I do sometimes wonder what I would be doing if I had stayed but I have no regrets.

After returning to the dizzy heights of managemnet at JJB I was getting a bit bored so decided to call time and find another job.

This time i became a bailiff, for 1 week and again decided it was not the job for me so did some lorry driving as an agency driver for a while before joining Parcel Force.

Then eventually joining Brirish Bakeries in 2002 as a driver where i got my HGV licence.

In 2004 me and Nikki moved in together in a lovely bungalow in Hornchurch. We had just moved in when I fell ill with a slipped disc. I was laid up for 7 months and would like to thank bith our families for all the help and support they gave us.

After having an operation I was back with British Bakeries, now in the offices, where I have progresed into mangement and am enjoying my job.

I have been very fortunate and would like to send all my love to my Mum, my Dad, my Sister and her graet family, my uncle, all of Nikki's family and huge hugs and kisses to the love of my love and soon to be wife

NIKKI, I love you babe and can't wait till February.
